October 27 Bridal gown shopping Part 2One piece of advice when you are choosing your wedding gown is: never bring along too many people with you (1-2 is fine) or bring 2 different groups of people, else u'll find yourself in a dilemma... So what has happened to me? I had chosen my wedding gown and tea dress with my 2 sisters on last weekend. So, this weekend, i brought my Mr Yellow, my Papa along with me to try on the groom's suit and father's jacket while I look for an evening gown. My mum, my kid brother and my sis-in-law came along to join in the fun. I tried putting on 3 evening gowns: one red halter neck dress, one dark red with some black ribbon and one dark purple with jewel embriodery which makes me look like an Indian. After deciding on the red + black ribbon a-line gown as my evening wear, I put on the wedding gown and tea dress to seek for some approval. But...i got a 'NO' from ALL of them~ Fine...but i must say it was quite disheartening to hear that. Anyway Mr Yellow decided that he has to interfere and flip through the wedding gown picture samples. He picked 2 strapless ball gowns (like a dictator) for me to try on: 1 ball gown that is flared on the bottom and covered with embroidery on the bodice and on the circumference of the skirt (see photo A, not exactly the same one as the one i tried is fully embroidered with gold threads on the bodice and train) and the other ball gown with ruffled bottom, embroidered with crystal beadings and sequins (see photo B, same thing...just looks quite similar to what i tried on). The 2nd one was chosen as the 1st one looks similar to my evening gown which is an A-line style of dress with a few pleats on the skirt. As for my tea dress, we settled on a lavender dress (for now). I'm contemplating whether i should get a made-to-measure cheongsam to match Mr Yellow's cream-white 中山装 (suit with mandarin collar). The final gown fitting and trial make-up and hairdo will be on the 21st Dec, one week away from the actual day. Hopefully i will lose 3-4 kgs by then. Haha~ Here's a sneak preview of my EG (Front view of the dress) October 23 Bridal gown shopping
At last, I made a trip down to the bridal shop at Telok Ayer with my jie-meis to pick my wedding gown on last Sat evening. My appointment was around 6+, but i got attended to only after 8pm as the staff were kept busy by a few couples around and we decided to have a coffee break somewhere nearby. It was a fruitful one as my jie-meis and I managed to draft out with some gate crashing ideas and we have a great laugh while doing it. Here's an unflattering sneak preview of me in the gown. Too bad i wasn't allowed to snap photos of the gowns that i'd tried. There's another halter neck gown which is elegantly hand embroidered with tiny purple flowers along the neckline and bottom of the gown. Too bad i look rather matured in that dress and so i decide to stick to my first choice. Oh by the way, I like this gown right after i tried it on...even before i sign the package with Volans. It is this dress + the reasonable pricing + the owner's warm service attitude (who is a taiwanese btw) that make me decide to take up the package. Sad to say, lazy piggy has not been watching her diet nowadays that she no longer fits in the gown nicely. Goal for her by end of Nov shall be: To fit into the gown without a rubber band on the zip at the back of the gown. Hiak, to think the zip can be nicely zipped up 3 months back...
I'd checked out the wedding banquet decor on the same day, with Mr Yellow and here are some photos...
Overall, it doesn't give me the wow feeling and i feel more can be done here. Need to think on how to enhance the decor without any knocking and hitting with minimal costs... August 03 Taiwan Trip Part 2 - Kaohsiung (11th May 2008)I'd missed out a few places which we visited when we first arrived at the southern part of Taiwan. Mr Huang's aunt drove us in her little orange car to one of the harbours in Kaohsiung, a fish market as well as the beach. Lover's Wharf, Jiading (茄萣鄉) Kaohsiung County (高雄縣)
Fish market at Jiading. We had the freshest sashimi we had ever tried at this little stall. The tuna sashimi tasted so different from what we always eat at the Japanese restaurants in SG. The texture of the fish slice is not powdery at all, or in fact it has a smooth texture. And the best part is, it's cheap! Around NT$200 for (Forgot that's 3 or 4 kinds) around 20+ pieces! Aunty buying some 烏魚子 or Karasumi in the leftmost photo. Karasumi, or preserved fish roe. A delicacy in Taiwan and Japan. I'd tried it baked and cut into thin slices. Eat it with mayonnaise sauce and it simply tastes oiishi!! Yumyum! Went to the one of the beaches after lunch at the marketplace. Weather in the southern Taiwan is quite comparable to that in Singapore. But but...when i first step onto the beach...omg...the sand is scorching hot! The beach is covered with such fine and hot sand. To make it worst...i was wearing slippers. Flat slippers. And I had to walk briskly to the water to sav my feet from being barbequed. Fortunately, there isn't much for us to do there and we decided to drive back to Tainan for Grandpa who has been awaiting our arrival. Hee~ Next...on Hualien (To be cont) August 02 Taiwan Trip Part 2 - Tainan (11th May to 14th May 2008)As Mr Huang's grandpa has moved to stay with his aunt in Tainan, we made a trip down from Taipei the following day we reached Taiwan via the high speed railway (高鐵). The whole journey took us 1 hour plus and the fastest speed the train can go is 300km/hr. It has cut short the travelling time by half. Travelling from north to south is so much easier for us now compared to taking the 台鐵 from Taipei to Kaohsiung 3 years ago.
Tainan city, like his aunt had described, you'll get to see a little temple in every 3 steps and a big one in every 7 steps (三步一小廟, 七步一大廟). Haha~ It's a place full of temples, shrines and historical sites and buildings. This is due to the fact that it is one of those places where the people from Mainland China first settled down in the Formosa. In fact, it was the capital of Taiwan from the mid-17th century(when Koxinga or well-known Ming admiral Zheng Chenggong drove away the Dutch from the island and set up his kingdom there) to late 19th century under the Qing dynasty. Today, it remains the 4th largest city (oldest as well) in Taiwan (after Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung) and is a city rich of traditional flavour and culture. Food in Tainan definitely tastes different from what you can find in Taipei (though i have not finished trying all the local delicacies) and the weather is so much friendlier (i.e. warmer) than that in the latter. Historical sites in Tainan are divided to different grades, ranges from First class to second class and third class. (一級古蹟, 二級古蹟, 三級古蹟). As photo has shown, we went to Chih-kan Tower (First class) aka Fort Provintia, esta in 1653, has 300 over years of history.
Sidetrack a bit, the sashimi served at this mini stall opposite the tower is cheap and good~
After the sashimi lunch, we headed to The Sacrificial Rites Martial Temple (First class) nearby. (Esta around same time, is situated opposite the Chih-Kan Tower)
Followed by The Confucian Temple (First class), esta 1665
and the Koxinga Shrine, (First class), esta 1662
Eternal Golden Castle (built in 1874 to protect Taiwan from the Japanese army) and Old Fort of An-Ping (est by Dutch in 1623 as a Trading Port)
Some other sightings in the city.
Must try food in Tainan city. Chou's Fried Shrimp rolls. I love their almond pudding topped with red bean paste. Had 2 in 2 consecutive days.
Night markets are not to be missed in Tainan too. We visited the largest night market in Tainan on our 2nd night there and you can find almost everything there, from local flavoured food to clothes, bags and accessories. Their preserved fruits (can't remember what i ate) are delicious too.
Some interesting sights of the streets at night in Tainan-city. Huge wall paintings and traditional row houses along Shennong-street 神農街. Somehow it just remind me of those conserved shophouses in Chinatown. Famous street art along Hai-an street. Hello~
Same artwork in daylight. (It looks nicer in the night) We spotted a couple doing their wedding photoshoot here. Went to Cigu 七股 to visit the Taiwan Salt museum and the salt mountain on our 3rd day in Tainan. The museum introduces different methods of producing salt (the oldest method was the solar/evaporation method) and their uses as well as the history of the salt production in Taiwan. The salt production has ceased in Taiwan today and the country imported its supply from Australia. Tucheng Luermen Matsu Temple. (Largest temple in Southeast Asia consecrated to Matsu and copied the structure of Forbidden City in Beijing)
Spotted one of the staircase well that is covered with thousands of wedding photos. Apparently, these people went to pray to the God of marriages and got hitched after that.
Flowers flowers flowers. There are a few patches of vacant land, grown with my favourite flower, Sunflowers! However, a lot of them have already wilted and it's difficult to find a good spot to take 'the perfect flower sea'. So, I tried to focus taking on a few stalks.(Don't they look smiling to you?) Love these as well... Hope to visit Tainan again soon~ (To be cont)

Aw...Finally i have time to update on my 2-week long Taiwan trip. Mr Huang and I travelled to four places this time round and our itininery was like this: Taipei (10/5) -> Tainan (11/5 to 14/5) ->Back to Taipei (14/5) -> Ilan (15/5 to 16/5) -> Hualien (17/5 to 19/5) ->Back to Ilan (19/5) -> Back in Taipei (20/5 to 24/5) Day 1 (Taipei) No photos taken on my first day in Taipei as it was my 3rd time there. Haha~ We reached the Formosa at around 1pm. His uncle came to fetch us and brought us to Mr Huang's old apartment in Shipai 石牌. The apartment was 6 storeys high and there is no lift. This is not my first time staying there and i have to bear in mind not to bring too heavy luggages as poor Mr Yellow has to carry them up 6 floors. Fortunately his mum dropped by a few days to clean the house for us before she returned to SG, else i'd have to spend the whole afternoon to clean up the place. However, i realised i'm not satisfied at all. There's no TV in the house (his uncle moved it away). I can survive without internet, but my next impt entertainment is unavailable. Aw...The whole house is so quiet. And as usual, the water heater is not working at all. If the climate is similar to that of SG, i should be able to bathe without warm water. But the climate in Taipei is almost like winter in mid-May, which is totally unexpected (I only brought short sleeved shirts and 3/4 pants for the 2 of us). So, we spent almost 1 hour to use the electric flask to heat up enough tapwater (4 times the volume of the electric flask) for us to have a warm bath. Enough of complaints, i should be happy enough to have a room to stay. Like Mr Yellow said, i'm too pampered. I almost want to get a hotel room but the thought that his mum had cleaned the house for us to have a comfort stay puts the idea off. After we dropped off the luggages at his place, we took the MRT to the famous Shilin Night market for an early dinner. Wah...the first thing we ate is the oyster omelette with sweet sauce 蚵仔煎, smelly fried beancurd 臭豆腐 and my favourite Ru Rou Fan 魯肉飯(minced meat rice). Yum yum. I missed 魯肉飯 a lot~ The next thing i missed is the breakfast stall near his house, that sells 肉圓 and 四神湯!
Finally had this for breakfast on my 6th day in Taiwan (after we visited Tainan and before we went to Ilan). Doesn't look that great huh? Apparently, this is the Zhang-hua Rou Yuan 彰化肉圓. It's starch with meat filling, covered with special sweet sauce. See...that cloudy white thing is the sweet sauce. I find the soup goes well with it as it has a light and quiet taste and the intenstines are springy. Oh i'm salivating now...Everywhere has 肉圓 but the tastes can be different cuz I had one in Tainan and it tastes different from this.
See...Even the looks are different. This one was served together with clear soup, which is not to my liking... Next part will be on my Tainan Trip~ April 10 4
February 19 A day at MacRitchie Reservior
Took a day off from on last wed, 13th Feb, to go KTV and trekking with Jazzy and Gary. Nearly got lazy to go sing lunch from 11 to 2pm. Though it was planed earlier that we were going on the HSBC Treetop Walk (we started from MacRitchie Reservior) in the afternoon, i thought i can still go ahead with my unsporty or inappropriate attire. Haha~ I was totally filled with regrets after that. Before we started on our 3-hr trail from MacRitchie, we took a few photos with a few inhabitants there... If you wanna go on hiking, besides wearing appropriate attire, e.g. you can wear dry-tech T-shirts, presented by Jazzy and Gary, you may also wan to carry a few things along (in a bag suitable to bring for hiking, not shopping) A few necessities are: Tissue papers (For wiping water lost thru hiking), Drinks (For replenishing water in the body), Umbrella(In case that it rains or shines too brightly). Keep the bag as light as possible, unless you want to carry weights along the way, to build up your biceps or triceps muscles. Haha~ Some interesting stuff that we took pictures of along the way to the Treetop Walk... It took us 2 hours to complete the 5 km walk from MacRitchie to the Treetop walk (aka HSBC TTW aka the hanging bridge). For your information, the gates on the hanging bridge are closed at 5pm on everyday and closed on Mondays. It opens at 830am on weekends (and public holidays) and 9am on weekdays. The last 100m to the hanging bridge was quite torturous as the slope towards the TTW is quite steep and we were rushing for time. Though we made it in the end, we do not have time to slow down to take pictures from the TTW as the caretaker wanted to close the gate at the other side of the bridge. Never mind, we still take some photos at the end. See the non entry sign behind? Meet our new spokesperson for P*kk* Green Tea. Wearing white T-shirts make you appear glowing in the dark. Thought they 'reached enlightenment' after the 2-hr walk. Wrong footwear presented by yours truly. We ended the 1-hr forest trail by entering the deep end of rifle range road, near some ST engineering Pte Ltd. There were no vehicles coming into the road. While we were contemplating whether we should get a hitch a ride in a car that is leaving the ST centre, some monkeys came out to divert our attention, until we saw a cab coming in... Anyway, it is strongly recommended by us that you do some homework before you start on any hiking. The website for TTW information is here (http://www.nparks.gov.sg/nature_central_treetops.asp) You wouldn't want to be like me, ending up walking aimlessly on some weird trail and looking out for civilisation constantly. Map for the trails can be found here http://www.nparks.gov.sg/imgs/nature_central_map1.jpg February 13 Reunited with Jazzy
Dinner at Brewerkz Clarke Quay Jazzy dear back in SG for the festive season again. As usual, i took a few days off to keep her company and brought her to my fav place, clarke quay. Porky joined us for dinner as well since it has been a while that both of them meet up. Gary and Marcus joined slightly later but at least they made it unlike poor Fei fei got stuck in a meeting.
Muahahaha~ i got to know this four people at the same time, same place (on the 1st monday of year 1998 during the 3mth course at NYJC, in class CT10. Aw...who would have thought on that day that we'll still keep in touch after a decade and that i married one of them?! Brrr...*Hair standing up*)
Day out at dempsey road It'd be more romantic to go in the evening. But nevertheless, going in the afternoon is quite a good choice as well since there's not much people. But after walking round and round the hill under the hot sun, i gave up exploring the place and started calling my colleague to find out where is the P.S cafe. The place is quite easily accessible from Orchard as it took us ard 10 mins via bus 106 (other buses are 7, 77 and 123) from somerset mrt station to get there. We ordered desserts at the Cafe, Profiterole and Fudgy brownie plus 1 Oreo milkshake and banana milkshake. But we either overestimate ourselves or underestimate the portion. Ate until we almost want to p*k*.
Profiteroles. The almond flakes are fragrant & crunchy. But Jazzy face looks more like a disgusted look than a greedy look. Haha~ Fudgy Brownie with ice cream. I think the portion should be just nice for 3 gals. The marshmallows combined with the fudgy chocolate coating are the ones that make one feel super filling.
Jazzy dear trying to get the cookie out of the glass while me happily sipping my banana milkshake away. Rare chance for me to order some banana dessert without having to consider that Porky wei, who will share food with me, doesn't like bananas as much as i do. Hahaha~ Overall, the ambience is good. We saw a few ang moh tai-tais enjoying their afternoon tea at the cafe. Couldnt help imagining and envy how much free time they have on their hands. Before we head back to orchard for shopping, we took a few photos outside the cafe. One of the waiters who noticed us snapping photos away outside the cafe, is kind enough to offer his help to take a picture of us. And there we go...
To my dear friend, no matter how far we are apart, we have never failed to contact and update each other on our lives almost every weekend. Though sometimes i really wish to have you back in sg for good, to be able to get easy access to your listening ear and to be your support as well... Hee...Cheers to our 10 years of friendship... woohoO~ 朋友, 我們還有很多個十年要一起度過... July 22 Jurong Bird Park Part 2
Okie. Got the photos from other 2 tourmates. Here's my fav place in the park, the Lory Loft. It's a huge enclosed area, covered with a big net, and inside it there are a few levels made of steel and wood.
For $2 or $5, you get to feed the lories flying round in the enclosed space. The food is in semi-liquid form, seems to be some kind of dissolved bird food. Anyway, hold the bowl carefully with 2 hands and stretch out your arms. Wait patiently and you'll soon see the birds flocking to you. They are greedy birds which never seem to stop eating. You may also get lucky when one of them sit on your shoulder. ( On the hanging bridge in the lory loft) After feeding the birds, we moved on to visit other birds in the park. The one in the left pic is a Toucan. Can't rem what's the one in the right pic. Us, waiting to watch the 'Birds of Prey' show~ Here's a white-bellied eagle, waiting for the signal to fly for us... Another eagle, caught the prop threw into mid-air. Birds of Prey, like the name, we got to see eagles soaring across the audience seats and also over our heads. There were appearances of not only eagles, but also vultures and owls in the show. Strange thing is these birds, never took the chance to escape from the park. Guess they already treat it as their homes and too comfortable to leave the place bah~
We ended the tour with another visit to Kaku, the parrot and we found the bird was still as active as 5 hrs before. Haha~ ~End~ July 17 15th~16th July 2006Ooh...i never know i can have a friendster public viewing page...

Went to my cousin's bdae party at Pasir Ris Costa Sands chalet on Saturday evening. Wah~ Blur me brought my mum and 2 other cousins into Downtown East, looking desperately for Blk S. The last chalet block in Downtown east is Letter 'L'. There were no 'S' in sight. Called my kid brother who reached earlier and he still asked me to walk further in and look for a swimming pool. Only after 10 or 15 mins, then realised, shit...we are in the wrong chalet...took some more time to get to the correct one...what a long walk. Spent 30 mins to get to the party.
He had so many friends (around 40 over) and i'm glad to see many long-time-never-see cousins there. We took a number of photos to keep ourselves entertained and also it's a rare occassion to gather around in a place.
In the 1st photo, the youngest (very obvious) is 22 yrs younger than me and the eldest (guy in 2nd row, right corner) is 7 years older than me. The rest, including 3 sisters who din attend, are all younger than me~~~ Gee...took another photo, this time round with the birthday boy and his brothers (in the back row) Hmm...dunno when we'll gather in such manner again but one thing for sure it's going to take another 2 years for the next one to hit 21...another 3 years for the next next one and another 5 years for the next next next one...Argh...sad to noe i'm no longer young soon... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Sunday afternoon i had a super-impromptu badminton session. Managed to book 2 courts at joo chiat cc for an hour just the day before, or 12 hours before to be exact. Played for 1 hour and my right arm and thighs are aching now... But it's good exercise, sweat a lot and definitely more tiring than my 30-min jogging...so i excused myself no need to jog today...muahaha~
Tml going to watch Pirates of Carribean 2 at The Cathay in the evening. Yeah~ Heard from TS it's good. Hope tml time will fly fast... July 16 Jurong Bird ParkPW's cousin is on her 1st visit in SG and the 1st tourist attraction we brought her to...the Bird Park. It took super long for us to reach Jurong (around 1.5 hr) and we toured around the park for almost 5 hrs.
Here's a recap on our Bird park tour...
Meet Kaku the talking parrot (Talking birds section, near the entrance) This fellow is funny and friendly to its visitors. Apart from saying 'Hello' and 'How are you', it also know how to pronouce it's own name, laugh and make sounds of a reversing car (But we nvr got to hear it). It's laughter goes sth like 'Heer heer heer' which make it sounds hilarious. At times, the parrot will turn its back towards us and let us stroke its features. It really took away the limelight from other talking birds. We really enjoyed been entertained by Kaku, but there were still other birds for us to see (or for them to see us?) Flamingo Parade This owl looks like a jail-bird...(haha~) Right up, left down Left up, right down and finally both down... Apparently, they stick their heads in water for 5 secs in every 5 sec intervals Pelican resting on the tree top...and in the centre of the pond... These fishes look big and fat but they are inedible... Took some pics in the parrot arena...where the parrots (unlike those near the entrance) are kept in huge tall cages...quite a noisy place as most of them are yaking away... Took a few pics at the man-made waterfall in the park...and here are pics of some birds that can move freely in the area... I like this pic...duckies look so comfy hiding away from the sun... We were touring around the this Jewels of birds section and complaining that we can't see any birds around when suddenly we saw this big lizard, lying across the wooden pathway,,, ,,, Looks like it's sun bathing...it stayed quite still and totally indifferent to our presence... Only foxy is brave to pose with this creature...
This is the Lory loft area...but ah...i'm lazy to write further now...some more my camera ran out of batt here...luckily we have 2 other cameras... to be cont'... July 09 WC final match is on tonight~This week is quite a different week for me.
I've been a very good daughter, going home at 6pm every day, never roam around in the shopping areas, no dinner appts with friends, always eat home cooked food, and i went jogging, swimming with my kid brother. And i'm surprised that my kid brother showed a lot of patience when he tried to correct my swimming strokes. But swimming is so tiring, i fell asleep at 10+ that night, din manage to last to 2am, my usual bedtime. Haha.
I'm trying to fix up my life schedule. Hope that this kind of life (going home after work to eat mum's dinner, exercise and study) can last til my september papers are over.
But on wednesday afternoon, a piece of news hit me and fellow colleagues.
Read 'SCOR and REVIOS to create together SCOR Global Life, a top-tier Life reinsurer'
Dunno what's in the future for us. Just wait and see how. Meanwhile, i've just to continue working as per normal and i hope to have a team building session before anything changes. Haha~
Went to watch Superman movie that evening. It wasn't as bad as i've thought. Perhaps with lower expectations, the movie will turn out nicer than you had thought. It's a different kind of superhero movie as it's definitely more draggy but more emotional i guess. Worth paying 7 bucks for me, cuz the computer effects are quite good and superman is a tall, handsome man with nice blue eyes. And his outer red underwear doesn't make him look very silly. Haha~
Went to Ikea with my bf yesterday to look for his computer table. After 1 our of shopping, we ended up buying pillow case, table lamp but no computer table. But in the end, he bought one at one of the furniture store in Katong. The saleswoman asked whether we are siblings or just bgf, cuz we look alike! Hahaha. Heard that when two persons are too close to each other, they'll grow to look like each other. Dunno if i'd grown to look llike him or he grows to look like me...kekeke...
Tonight's WC final match...i really dunno which team to support, i start not to like French but if the team won, i'd win the $ my colleagues had pooled together. If Italy emerged as winner, i'd only get twice my bet amount. But i got a little bit greedy and make a trip down to Singapore pools betting station just now. I got a bit lost filling up the bet slips but luckily i bumped into my dad's friend. Just as i passed my bet to the lady at the counter, she asked me a question which make me stumped for reaction. "你几岁?" (How old are you?) I said "Har?" and she repeated her question. I wondered if i should say i'm above 18 or just tell her i'm 24?? Aiyah so extra, just tell her my age lah...
"I'm 24" and she proceeded on. Lucky she never ask to check my IC.
Hmm...later going for KTV, dunno if i'd still have energy left to watch the finals... June 30 BBQ 24 June 2006Had a bbq on last saturday with some friends. Photos can be found in the 'BBQ 060624' album. Our bbq menu includes mushrooms,cheese sausages, taiwan sausages, chicken nuggets, chicken chop, satay, sting ray, squid, prawns, bee hoon, marshmallows...There were too much food and some of us have to ta-bao back home. Next time got to cut down on the amount...Our chefs also had hard time cooking the food. Some played games to keep themselves entertained while waiting for food, like Bridge, Chinese chess and Big2. The fun ended after taking some group photos. Anyway, while we r bbq-ing, a snail got attracted to a used plate (think it was mine). It crawled very slowly towards the plate... from the time when we can still see the sun til the sun set... and when it finally crawled up the plate...it started moving across the plate and feeding on the beehoon strands!?
What a slimy snail...but definitely much smaller than the snails i see in the park near my place... Dun ask me if the snail finish all the bee-hoon on the plate, cuz i stopped checking on it after i captured this photo...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just a week before the bbq, few of us had a cycling session at East Coast park. I got much tanner after cycling for almost 2 hours under the hot noon sun. Photos are in 'East Coast Park 060618' album and my bf blogged about it here. http://zenitharchaios.spaces.msn.com/blog/cns!729CF6921D342928!246.entry
May 03 2nd MayYeah~ Last night mahjong session was better than the previous one i played~
(Mentioned here - refer to 23rd Apr)
At least i'm not the worst loser ah~
and I finally got 平胡...the very 1st game we played wor...4台 nei~
Wah...should had seen my brother and sis-in-law faces...keke
Must gam sia dua pek gong bor bi loh~ (i got offer 3 joss sticks before we start, after my bro and sis, and in the end the living room smelled of incense)
I'd got a good fengshui position today cuz i'm sitting right in front of the altar so got 靠山. My sis-in-law who was sitting in front of me had lost $ to the other players (actually i din win nor lose lah) cuz she sitting with her back facing an open window. Heehee~ So she lost 10 bucks to our uncle. If talked abt winning the number of games, think i won the most number...muahaha...but all very small lah...only 1 or 2 台s only...chey~ But have to do this to stop that uncle from winning 4 or 5 台s. But in the end he's still the big winner lah...cuz he still got win around 2 or 3 big games...argh...my kid brother also won some 2 or 3 台s one...hiak...i won small small but lost big big...luckily got break even...But i also pity that uncle lah...got to play with us, a bunch of 3-legged kittens 三脚猫...muahaha~
Must steal a few tricks from him then can be his opponent~ but i still weak at memorizing the rules...There's one instance i tot i can 'ping hu' again actually turned out to be a foul cuz i'm waiting for a file to form the 'eye' Aiyah~ forgot abt that...toot~
Hmm...gambling is bad...but at least it's the time when i feel i'm united with my brother...muahaha~
Think i ki siao liao...
May 02 22nd April ~ 1st MayA boring entry with events for the past whole week...
Let me begin with my eventful saturday (22nd April).
Went for KTV with my bf and his buddies in the morning-Kbox lunch 11 to 2pm. Becuz I only woke up at 10+ and drank only 1 glass of water, my voice wasnt 'open' yet and I sounded like frog croaking. One of his buddies brought his gf along and they sang a few duet songs. Wah~ both of them sang very well, can join 'Superstar' liao~ I rather keep quiet and listen to them than sing, if not i'll definitely sing more songs...hee~
In the later part of the day, went east coast park with my uni classmates to roller blade and cycling. Actually i intended to try roller blading but i ended up cycling since my other gal frd just had a bad fall from the latter. Hee~ so i gave myself excuses again... ;p We had planned to go ECP to practise on every weekend, so let's see whether it's our 3 minutes passion. Heehee. Taking up proper lessons is damn expensive. According to my frd, it costs $200 for 4 lessons. I can go Yishun stadium and pay $48 for4 lessons lor(or maybe even more than 4 lessons). See 1st lah...as much as i want to learn, i'm quite afraid of falling on my butt. Though i have enough 'buffer', but having a bad fall before and the aching i'll get during rainy days (rheumatism) put me off from trying. But heard that if i had learnt the proper techniques, there's no way i'll fall on my back...perhaps i should stuff a cushion in my pants for extra protection...
Sunday (23rd April)
Went to one of my collegues' place in the afternoon. (Hee~ my AM veri nice, gave me a ride there and back home, if not think i might get lazy to travel to cck) Anyway, my colleague's son is already 1 month old so it calls for a celebration~~~ (actually her son was born on her birthday~ so zhun ah~)Though she's on maternity leave, but it seems not ez for her at home. Got to feed every 2 hrs, then every feed and burping got to take ard 1 hr? Aiyoh...where got time to rest? No wonder they say, giving birth is much easier than taking care of babies...
In the evening, i got woken up from my nap by my mum. Guess what? she asked me to play mahjong with her buddy and my bro and his wife. I wasn't in that mood then but i tot i need practice anyway so i helped her to entertain her frd lor. So i told her buddy, let's keep the bet small small ok? I dun wan to pay too much 'school fees' to him. Luckily we did that cuz the 3 of us (Me, my bro and his wife) lost to him, a single player.
Hiak, sleeping too much didn't help me at all. Kept discarding the wrong tiles or wrong moves and worst still, tot i'd won when the combi is still a far cry from the 13 wonders. Ha~ That's the worst joke ever and the 3 other players kept laughing non-stop. In the end, we played for 3 hrs and i still din manage to win a single game. Super 烂 & fed up ah~ I 'suaned' that uncle for bullying us, the MJ beginners - never teach us a few tricks and keep winning our $. My mum told me 'go burn incense to the dua-pek-gong' at the altar, so me and my brother (the worse players) did so. Wah...i should had prayed earlier ah...cuz i finally won a game (the last game of 1 round).
Frankly speaking, though it's 不置量力 of us to play with a MJ expert but being a senior, u should guide us one mah...how can keep quiet when u see ur juniors keep throwing $ to u one...Tonight he's coming to play with us again. I'll make sure i memorize all the rules properly and pray pray to the dua-pek-gong 1st before playing. Oh yah, also need to find my feng shui position.
Monday~Friday (24th~29th April)
It's another 5 day working week as usual, with no after-work outings from monday to thursday. So my mood started high from the 1st day, hit a trough in the middle of the week before rising again. Though quite free but i din update this blog and almost spent every of my weekday night watching TV and the whole of wed night sleeping. Felt quite down on wed cuz i couldn't gave proper answers to the work-related questions posed to me. Felt so darn lousy & useless. So i slept early to do soul-searching in my dreams.(Sorta help a bit) Friday was the best la~ went to a nice lounge with my studying buddy at Marina Mandarin. Sitting in the middle of the hotel atrium, sipping down our cocktail & liquor coffee while listening the nice music played on the piano and by string ensemble was a great enjoyment. How i wished i can just fell asleep on the nice couch as long as i want. Hmm, next time must bring my buddy there to enjoy when she comes back for holiday. Hope she won't complain to me of drinking so early in the night...
Saturday (30th April)
Went to the ICA to collect my passport. I had make a request to renew it thru the net around 1 month ago and was allowed 2 weeks (from 17th April - day i received the notification from ICA) to get my butt down to Lavender to collect it.
Because the photo i sent them failed their requirements, i had submit to them another photo before i can collect my new passport. The queue outside the instant photo booths was so long-full of kittle kids and malays. It took me 45 mins before i got my turn. But the whole process was super fast lor. (think it took just less than 3 mins to get my photo taken, plus some photo enhancements via a comp - make it brighter and my photo printed out) Wah~ amazing sia. Even saw the person using the photo enhancer to 'remove' the hand holding a baby's head when she had her photo taken.
After getting my photo, i had to queue for another 15 mins to get a Q-number. Then stood for 1 and half hour before i get to the counter to process my collection request. Took another 30 mins to wait for them to produce my new passport. Luckily i got my story book and mp3 player with me, else i'll just die of boredom. Totalling up i spent 3 hours at the ICA building...ALONE...Argh~ But if i dragged my baby with me, i'm sure he'll bored to death...so i rather suffer myself (hee...sound as if myself so 伟大~)
Should had applied for leave and collect it on a weekday then maybe i dun have to spend so much time to collect my new passport. Just too bad that i realised it too late.
I think i got to spend the following saturday waiting in the queue as well. Cuz i going to make my 'scared' vote on that day~
Met my old JC friend for dinner in the evening. We had dinner at the outback steakhouse @ millenia walk and dessert at bakerzin. Wah~ I think i ate a lot that night. Imagine la,the total bill costs 90 bucks plus the desserts we had ard 40 bucks? Chum, surely gain wt over this weekend. But it was a satisfying meal i had for the day...
On my way back on the bus, saw a man, sitting besides me (we were sitting at the extreme ends of the last row) kept on shouting with his finger pointing in the air. Eek...very creepy. Initially i was on the phone with a frd so i din paid much attention. Tot he was just toking loudly on his hp...but realised he wasn't. Eeekss....so creepy. And the words that came out from his mouth were repeated but very fast wor...and sounds very unpleasant. He even spat on the bus! Argh...wanted to change seats but luckily he got off the next stop. Phew~ and i noticed he kept on doing the same thing even after he alighted...
Sunday (31st April)
Went to our usual park-tor-ing place - Liang court (one shopping place that has no weekend crowds and got the food we enjoy~) in the afternoon for lunch. We went to this Japanese restuarant in the basement, besides the Meidi-ya supermarket (sells japanese foodstuff and nice sushi) for ramen~ (finally we went in for a meal~ cuz we always eat at the little stalls in the basement and never step into that restaurant) Heard from my friend that it's nice and that they boil the soup for 2 days one...sounds tempting and the prices are in the affordable range...1 bowl of ramen costs ard $12-14...
Hmmm~ i had the Kyushuu ramen and my bf had the Hokkaido miso ramen which tasted better than mine...Yum~ (i really ate a lot over the weekend~ Not surprised if i had put on 1 kg...) Better than the Ajisen ramen we always have...
Then as usual after lunch, we went to Kinokuniya located upstairs. Went there just right in time cuz they're having 20% storewide sale for 2 days (only). Got myself 3 comics-電車男. Ah~ impulse buying. But that series has only 3 volumes plus i can save around $5. So, why not rt? Hee~ Some more the story is nice what...at least my bf finds it nice. But i think it's quite a different mood from the drama i had watched (which is also based on the same story)...
Monday (1st May)
Apart from spending the day playing THE SIMS2 - Open for business (recently got hooked up with this game, letting my sims people managing restaurant, boutique and hair salon...next one i gg to let them manage a toy/flowers shop) i spent the rest of the day either sleeping or watching a Japanese drama - 流星花园. Supposed to return to my colleague the following day. So got to rush a bit. Luckily it's only 6 vcds, so only have to spend 7 hrs to finish the whole drama. I find the gal in it is prettier than the one in the Taiwanese version. But as for the guys, hmm...think Taiwan F4 more suave, but the acting from the japanese team is better than them la...Since it's only 6 pieces of Vcds, of course the whole drama moves faster than the taiwanese version i watched 5 yrs back) Hee~ No time for other things liao lor... February 14 Chinese New Year 2006This year CNY is the first one
1. Went to 8 places in a day (3 temples, 4 relatives' houses on the 1st day)
2. I spent it without my family (They went Bangkok shopping from the 2nd day to the 5th day and i spent it with my bf)
3. Went to my first uncle house to bai nian without my family.
4. I gamble without blackjack (so it's mahjong la)
5. Went to my 'godbrother's' house to bai nian
6. Went to Orchard with my 'dear' on the 2nd day to do some shopping and realise the shops are still not open ( i never go orchard during CNY's) Anyway, i went there again on the 3rd day and it's so crowded.
7. I received an Ang bao from someone's mum whom i never met before.
8. Went to my colleague's house and broke something
9. I see my real godma's little grandson. Very cute boy. He's as old as i never seen my godma since 2004.
10. I heard ppl ask me to get married soon so that he can save a red packet next year (Haha, very funny~)
January 13 Merry Xmas and Happy New YearI always like December best. Not only that my bdae falls in the month but also the whole month is filled with festive mood... A few asked what did i get for xmas. Erm, to sum up, I got the following from my friends and colleagues
(Thanks to everyone for the gifts. Some of them are really nice surprises.):
EP: Lemongrass warm balm KL: Precious moments face towels LH: Blue Straw bag and purple flower LT: Red pouch with a sleeping kitten on it PC: Esprit make up pouch PW: Sweater and one of Naohito Fujiki aka my Lover's DVD SC: Stripey Cat's mug SY: A walking stickman coin pouch TS: Bossini sling bag and Esprit handphone pouch cum wallet (too bad, no more stock in singapore already) Purple beaded ring and earrings WH: A Cow paper clipper and Jay Chou's CD JK: ??? ('m still waiting for my bdae and xmas pressies to 'fly' to SG...) The long weekend (25th December, Our 5th Year Anniversary)
Had xmas dinner with bf at Millenia Walk on the eve. Glad that he doesn't have to play basketball on Saturday evenin and spend time with me~ Luckily we went for dinner early at 5 plus cuz the dining crowd came at around 6+. After dinner, we went to Marina Square where we played 3 rounds of pool. Dunno is it the pool table or is it me...I can't hit the balls properly that day. Then, we strolled from Esplanade to Fullerton hotel b4 we decide to leave the crowded place and head for home. Napped for a few hours and woke up to fix the jigsaw puzzle we bought during our Taiwan trip. We only completed the puzzle in the following afternoon. Darn tiring. 2005 Xmas day, it's our 5th anniversary (of getting together) Time flies really fast...
Anyway, we watched Chronicles of Narnia in the evening at P.S. with his friends. Not a bad idea to show during this period as the movie is filled with the mood and talks about sacrificing and love. I'm looking forward to the second instalment in Xmas 2006. Yipee~
The second long weekend (In the mood for Packing)
Dunno what has got over me. I got into the Pack and Throw mood during the holiday season.
I packed my room a few days after xmas, especially my wardrobe. Got rid of many clothes which i dun think i'd wear anymore or can't fit (not cuz i got fat but cuz they are mostly more than 3 years old)
正所谓,旧的不去,新的不来. I need more room for my new clothe...heehee
Took out all the Japanese Drama Vcds and fit them into my bookcase. So as to remind myself to watch when i'm free. Hee~ Got a new desk as well so that i can form an L shaped study desk, like the workstation in the my office.
Now my room is free of clutter and offers a good environment for studying~~~ Let's see how long the tidiness can last. My aunt told me the last time i packed my room, the tidiness only lasted for 2 weeks. I'd want to break the record to keep it going for at least 6 months...
Also cleaned my workstation in the office on the 30th day of Dec. Big boss actually given us half day off that day plus a lunch treat at his club. But, i already had an appt in the evening, so i stayed back to clean my table and it took me 3 hours. I practically moved everything on my table to the floor and wiped it with dettol wet tissues. Keke~ The computer and keyboard as well. Full of dust and i dunno how come i can stand working at my desk for 8 hrs everyday. Also threw away some useless stuffs and rearrange my table top. Neater. More organized. Satisfied.
The next one is my bf's room. As i'm spending my new year at his place and i got nothing better to do, i start to pack and throw away many empty game boxes and packed away many of his notes and rubbish. Also spent the new year night to wipe the dirty marks on the walls. But i think some paint had come off so it really needs a repaint in near future. We went to ikea on the second day of new year to get a new one and few book shelves. It was full of ppl but anyway we got what we need and now his room looks more cosy and neat.
But old habits are hard to change as i start seeing his comics lying around the table and floor few days later...when are you going to change ah?
New Year Resolutions
Eh, i decide not to have a list of resolutions.
It'll never work out.
Furthermore, i think this 2006 is gonna to be the same as Year 2005 is to me...
I'll just try live everyday as it is, be happy, think positive and see how it goes... 16th ~ 18th Dec16th Dec
Company chalet
Got a company chalet. (It's kinda an annual thing where we got together and have fun during the festive season) Supposed to be 3 days and 2 nights and our actual teambuilding games was held on the 17th. Around half the staff(including me) got to the SAFRA chalet at Tanah Merah on Friday evening after work. We had dinner and bought some stuff for the chalet at the nearby Changi Village .
Games
How we spend the rest of the evening? Some played mahjong while the rest watched TV. We also had 2 rounds of bowling at the clubhouse nearby & a few rounds of Uno Stacko and have many laughs until half past 2 (It's a fun game when you have lots of people playing) It's exciting to see the stacked up tower of blocks swaying to and fro while someone is trying to pull out a block from it. Ha~
The tower can't hold any longer and so do i. So, make it fall and aaa... 17th Dec
1st Wakeboarding Experience
Woke up early the next day morning(only slept at 330 and for 4 hrs) to go wakeboarding. Supposed to go with 2 other gals and 3 guys but turned out that one gal was feeling unwell and the other got her aunt visit. Wanted to be a sleepy head but aiya...what reason can i use to back out at the last min? So i decided to 硬着头皮...豁出去好了, followed the guys to Puggol Marina.
Argh, water is indeed dirty as what i'd heard. But it gets better when the boat went further away into the sea. This is my first time going into sea water & so i was feeling panicky. I was the 3rd one to try and i couldnt imagine what would happen later
Totally lost count how many times i fell into the water but i'd never forget the taste of seawater. Eeeks...so salty one. I find my eyes are a bit irritated and the worst feeling is to have the water rushed thru my nose and into my mouth. What a great wash of my nasal pipe.
The fall
Despite of the fact of wearing a life jacket on me so that i'd never get drowned, i still got panicked somehow and struggled a lot in the water. Ha. One of the worst falls one could have is to fall facing down the water. Bad bad. When i first fell 'frontwards' i dared not open my eyes and i was struggling a lot to stick my head out of the surface. Used too much might to do that and it only makes things worse. More water covering my head. 1 colleague described it as self-dunking. Ha~ Very funny. I nearly wanted to scream for help but couldnt cuz my head is still in water mah...heehee. Well, of course learnt to relax and wait 'patiently' for the boat to make a 'u-turn' back for me. Oh yes, that kind of wait is rather 'lonely'. Dunno what's underneath the water and erm i really scared other boats will hit me...keke~
Finally...?
Perhaps i struggled too much. Wasted a lot of energy. In the end, got so weary that i have no more strength left to hold to the handle attached to the rope. Argh...so in the end i din manage to stand up straight on the wakeboard and ride the waves like the rest did. Pity ah. But nvm, i'm only going for an experience and going into the sea water is already a challenge for me.
1 colleague took photos with his splendid damera. The photos are very clear but I not gg to post any of those falling photos cuz most of them show the panicky look on my piggy face which i find quite hilarious. Not to mention also, my piggy legs. Need to wear longer pants in my next try...so i can only show these 2...hee~
Back to chalet
Somehow, i find the games this year weren't that fun, in my opinion.
Maybe i was too tired from the wakeboard in the morning or maybe i was tired of waiting for the games to start or maybe cuz of lack of zzz, i couldn't lift up my mood and enjoy those games. The rain is also mood dampening. But while it was raining, we had cake cutting session. (yes for me). It was a chocolate cake. Oiishi desu ne~. Really thankful to my dear colleague who drove all the way to this cake shop at Bukit Timah to collect it.
Year end lucky draw
It was great. I got some CK Tangs vouchers instead of a digital cam(Top prize), or a MP3 player(2nd prize) or even an Uzap.Very good consolation prizes (to console myself~) . Haven't spend those. But i must put them to good use, like buying a nice dress, or some comestic products to pamper myself. Heehee~
Rest of the night
Spent the rest of the night (after the BBQ and lucky draw) playing the Uno stacko (again) with some colleagues and big boss~ until 12 midnight. Actually all i wanted to do is to SLEEP. But i dun think it's that nice to be anti-social in the chalet or leave early. So, I laid on the sofa and got up only when it was my turn to pull the block. It gets boring after a while cuz i realised i was playing with the BIG ones. Ha...not very nice to sabo them also... so no fun...heeheehee
Finally my bf came after midnight to fetch me home. Yah...finally, Piggy can get to sleep on proper bed...keke~
18th Dec
Happy 24th Birthday
Got a number of birthday wishes thru sms'es from my friends and my father on tat day. Frankly speaking, nothing beats more than these ppl especially those who seldom keep contact with me and could still remember my bdae. Also appreciate my buddies to make the effort to sms me on this actual day even though they already gave me presents. Also got some late wishes later on. But it's the thought that counts. So, even though u had taken 1 week to remember it's my bdae last week, i'd still appreciate it cuz at least u remember and bother to sms me. Although i like to receive birthday wishes, it doesn't mean you can save $ on buying my presents. Hee~
Some asked how i celebrate it? Hmm...din really celebrate it. Went out for lunch with my bf and his frds. Not too bad. At least got free lunch treats from them. Did some shopping around too and my bf got himself a new HP. Also spent the evening with my family(It's my family tradition to cut cake on birthdays). Hee~
One year older. No big deal. Only wished for good health and luck for people around me. That's all.
But i need to do real planning for my future in the coming year...
January 08 Taiwan Trip (3rd Dec to 11th Dec)Yoz~ Been lazy for a month and finally i'm here to update my blog.
Went to Taiwan with my bf on the 3rd Dec for almost a week and here's a summary on my trip.
3rd Dec (Sat)
We flew on the Sat morning flight and reached CKS Intl aiport at 3+. The temperature is only around 17-19 degrees. After dropping our bags at his uncle's place in Taipei, we went to Shilin night market to meet his cousin. As usual, it's very crowded on weekends but it doesnt seem to bother us that much and we only care of trying out the local delights. Hee~ Spent around 4 hrs eating and shopping over there. In the end, i got a T-shirt for my brother and shoes for my aunt over there and some little stuff for myself.
Woke up quite late in the morning. Around 9+. (Erm...supposed to wake up at 7+ to go out and have breakfast) But the weather is so nice for hibernating in the blanket...
His uncle brought us to the tallest ferris wheel in Taipei. (Forgot how tall it is) But it only opens at 11am...phew~ actually i wasn't mentally prepared for the ride...heehee~ So, we went to the IT exhibition to see how 'chio' the show gals are. Ha~ (Actually that's not the main purpose la~) The place is full of people and i saw many guys taking pics of the show gals. Doubt they paid attention to the products they are introducing... keke~
We took a 1.5 hr train ride to Jiaoxi礁溪 (in Ilan宜蘭 province) in the afternoon.
Went to the Royal hotel (a hot spring hotel), which is just opposite his grandparents house, to have free buffet dinner(Apparently, the hotel is newly opened and they gave away free dining vouchers to the residents nearby). Took some pics over there.
Too bad, we can't afford to book a room and stay for the night there...So we went to a much more affordable place for spring bath. This is the place we went for hot bath. Went to the same place for hot bath for 2 nights. Costs NT$150 for a 40-min bath. The next day morning, we climbed up the Wu Feng Qi Shan五峰旗山. It's just a 10min walk from the house we putting up at. It has 3 waterfall points and there's a catherdral in the middle of the mountain. (some mountaineers got lost and saved on a hiking trip in the same mountain) The temperature is only 10 degrees. Quite a tiring climb for me as i got a headache on my way up. Maybe i climbed too fast or maybe of the low pressure at greater heights? But it's worth it cuz i get to see waterfalls and nice scenaries.
We went to another mountain top (There's a golf course at the top of the mountain). We got some food and we fed the pigeons and ducks nearby. Left Jiaoxi on tues afternoon for Taipei. In the evening, we went to SOGO at 忠孝復興 for shopping~ There's this lift lady 電梯小姊 (wearing a very cute xmas suit) introducing to the shoppers which floors to go for what kind of shopping. Felt a bit regret that i din take any photos of them...Got some books and a puzzle there. After a quick shopping(i think we only shopped for 30 mins), we met his friend for dinner. Had a whooping hot curry rice to keep us warm. Shiok~
7th-9th Dec(Wed-Fri)
Next day, we went out only in the afternoon. Visited the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall in the drizzling weather. (Told him i missed out this place on my previous trip so this time die die must go...Ha) But but we missed out the 故宮 (museum with historial artifacts) this time round. Never mind leave it til next time then. Hee~
Then we took the 4.5 hr train ride to Pingtung屏東(where his grandpa is staying). The most southern part of Taiwan. So basically, i've went around the Formosa Island. Hahaha~
It's much warmer in the south, so we do not have to wear the jackets. The sky is a lot more brighter and blue compared to the sky i'd seen while in Taipei (always gloomy one) So i can't helped taking pics of the sky...
(NB:The normal peacock showing off its feathers to us when we approached the cage...Can't get a nice pic of thw white on cuz of another peacock disturbing in front of myamera...)
Left Pingtung on fri afternoon and we reached Taipei at 730pm. So tiring...
Nonetheless, we went to the 繞河街夜市 for dinner. We walked through the night market for 2 rounds for 2 hours. So tired in the end that i din take a bath that night. Ha~
10th-11th Dec (Sat-Sun)
Finally, one full day in Taipei. Nothing much to say here. Just hop to a few places in the afternnon b4 we met his relatives for steamboat dinner at around Xindian 新店 area.
Photos taken at Xin Yi Qu (信义区) or near 市政府 metro station.
Only stopped at Xi Men Ding(西门町) for an hour. Got a few CDs there and this...
The night before and few hours before we fly back to singapore. Pic taken from his uncle's house.
The house actually faces Yang Ming Shan...
Took the afternoon flight back to Singapore on Sun. Met 2 of my ex-JC schoolmates at the airport. They went on a tour group and i wonder if they are a couple... What a small world. Haha~ Always bump into ppl familiar at airports. On my last trip to KL, i met one of my Uni classmate at the aiport...keke. On a trip to Hong Kong, i met another Uni classmate at Changi, she was heading back to HK for holiday~ Hee~
Some afterthoughts:
Really need someone to take care of me during the trip - To carry my stuff, for me to lean on when i'm tired during the long journey, to wait for me when my legs cannot move too fast, to manage time for me cuz i always got attracted by cutie stuff and forgot what time we getting on the train.
Din buy much stuff except for some books and tibits. Anyway, the main purpose is to enjoy life and not shopping...Life was too relaxed there and i totally forgot about my work, study and home. Hee~
ONly start to feel homesick 2 days before i return to Singapore. Not bad liao. Wanna go again...but not in 6 mths time again...haha |
